In many third world countries, children have to walk long distances each day to provide their families with water. This will cost those children priceless time in and out of the classroom. Often, the water they fetch is contaminated and then causes them to contract various illnesses, which not only carries the risk of death but also keeps them from school.

Normally, the people of an entire village will benefit from Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) projects but more specifically - the projects are implemented for the needs of children and teachers at schools.

Each WASH project provides one school with latrines (as needed), a bore-hole well with motorized or hand pump (depending on access to electricity), a water storage tank, filters and water taps that act as drinking fountains. In addition, teachers and the school children are provided with education and curriculum on proper sanitation and hygiene practices along with education on how to properly use and maintain their clean water solutions. This ensures that the generations to come will be happier and healthier as they too educate their children on the importance of clean water.

A parliamentary democracy, India's 28 states and 7 territories make up the world's twelfth largest and one of its fastest-growing economies, posting a 7 percent annual growth rate. Exports include software services and software workers along with manufactured goods, tea, and coffee. In spite of India's rapidly growing economy and high-tech work force, many of its rural people still struggle with poverty. India faces the challenges of growing demand and industrial run-off and poor sanitation in its efforts to provide safe, uncontaminated water for its people.
